TOBY DAMMIT DRAFTED INTO SERVICE BY IGGY & THE STOOGES

WOUGH WHAT'S THAT? The news we have around here is that Toby has been asked to fill in for his buddy Scott Ashton on drums for 17 concerts with Iggy & The Stooges in Europe starting...TODAY in Kent, England at the HOP FESTIVAL. Apparently this all happended last minute with little time for thought, but Toby decided he had to do it. The latest news update we have about Scott is that he is recovering well from an illness and all reports are positive. We have confirmed that Toby will also be appearing on the three American concerts as well in California in December.

Toby hasn't performed with Iggy since 1999, so this marks a 12 year return to service. However Toby and Jessie Evans toured with The Stooges on their 2008 German shows. The duo also opened up for The Stooges concert at L'Olympia in Paris in 2010. We understand that Toby was watching Scott closely on those shows and now it appears to have been a wise decision! Toby says he will "give it his all to make Scott proud and not let anybody down". Check these rare photos of these guys from 2010 at L'Olympia.

TOBY DAMMIT featured guest on the Watt from Pedro show!

Toby was rcently the featured guest on the "Mike Watt from Pedro" radio show. Mike Watt got what appears to be the most in depth interview ever with Dammit in Lisbon, Portugal - a 3 hour affair! Here you can listen to the current rhythm section of the Stooges chit chat and hear the story straight from the horse's mouth (as they say!) of how Toby's rambling life led him into the Stooges. CHECK IT OUT!

TOBY DAMMIT & JESSIE EVANS link Tijuana to Brandenburger gate in 2011 !

Toby and Jessie have just appeared live directly in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin for the CSD Festival with a reported mobb of 500,000 persons standing before them! The duo expanded their stage show this time once again with Brasilian percussionist Deborah Saraiva, as well as brother & sister background singers Pablo & Joy Zapata.

The world traveling dynamic duo of Jessie Evans and Toby Dammit started their 2011 shows off in none other than Tijuana! - the home of both > Is It Fire? and their producer Pepe Mogt of Nortec Collective. Why not start the year off with a big bang... and on Revolution Street no less !

The most exciting news however is that Toby & Jessie began are working on a new Jessie Evans album this year! They shacked up in Valley Village recording at Seedy Underbelly Studios in Los Angeles working with Atom Greenspan on the basic tracks. They've had further sessions in Berlin and even Sao Paulo! It's gonna be one hot album and we're all looking forward to it in 2012!

TOBY DAMMIT performing Queen of Siam with Lydia Lunch in Austria!

WHAT?!! We don't think anyone was expecting this one! Indeed Toby surprises us yet again. He was seen onstage in May in Krems, Austria playing a concert grand piano with the Queen of Siam herself - Lydia Lunch! Apparently frau Lunch had put together an all-star cast of musicians to perform her classic first solo album from 1979 in it's entirety for the first time ever onstage. Also joining the Queen of Siam herself were three Londoners Ian White and James Johnston from Big Sexy Noise and Leo Kurunis on bass, as well as Jessie Evans on saxophones > a wicked combination to be sure and by all reports this sextet pulled this masterpiece off for those lucky Austrians!

There are already several video clips floating around on youtube. There our little Toby is ... tickling the ivories in a most mad way only Toby could have come up with. But of course the famous bongo solo on "Atomic Bongos" was his delicacy that night. The real question is; WHEN and WHERE will this event happen again? Let's all hope this show travels!

Western Spaghetti released in France APRIL 26th !

Toby appears to be giddy with happiness about the release of the new album by MeLL entitled Western Spaghetti. The album was released in France on April 26th by Mon Slip disques. Toby produced Western Spaghetti in Berlin and according to him it's his pride and joy. An all-star band of friends was assembled for this album featuring the legendary Kid Congo Powers on guitars, Toby himself on drums, organs & percussion and not 1, not 2, but 3 members of Calexico; Volker Zander on bass, Martin Wenk on trumpet and Paul Niehaus on pedal steel, plus many special guest Berliners.

"Western Spaghetti is a Franco-Americana musical odyssey that only MeLL could envision. She's traveled all across the USA playing solo shows in small towns and meeting regular Americans. Her French perspective and a developed taste of American music is what this album is all about. She loves country, big band, southern CA punk rock, blues, vaudeville, rockabilly, you name it. It was a genuine challenge, but we all worked together to get the right authentic feelings with every song. MeLL's fearless drive brought this album up to the next level. What a hellcat!"

Toby seems confident Western Spaghetti will become a classic not only in France, but around the globe. More news to follow!

Walking released in France May 23rd !

That's right ! Toby has ANOTHER album just released in France one month after MeLL's Western Spaghetti ! It's the new album by the French actress Chloé Mons entitled "Walking". It's released in France on Sony / Jive records and hit the streets on May 23rd. "Walking" is Chloé Mons' 3rd solo album and she chose to make this album a special adventure.

"Chloé was looking for a special sound and wanted to work with a dear old friend of mine, producer Malcolm Burn up in Kingston, New York. So she, her guitarist Yan Pechin and myself flew over from Paris to New York for this one. We drove up to Malcolm's studio and recorded live together in a small basement room. We maintained a pace of four songs a day live including all overdubs. After three days we had twelve songs and we were DONE. Malcolm mixed the album in two days and that was it; the fastest album I ever made in my life, yet one of the most effortless sessions I ever had!"

"Walking is really a special album. The songs are beautifully written and simple. The atmospheres shift naturally from the brutal to fragile, but always remain minimal. Three takes per song was our recipe. I'm so proud that an album like this can be made this way today and that I was a part of it.

Toby and Jessie Evans Blitz across France in 2010 !

What's that? Toby Dammit and Jessie Evans can't seem to get enough of France! So onward they drive across France North and South - East and West - rain or volcanoes / transit strikes or Gypsy evacuations couldn't stop them. The duo performed sixty-seven concets worldwide last year with forty-two of those concerts in France alone!

Highlights were the L'Olympia in Paris before Iggy and the Stooges on July 7th! Jessie and Toby attacked the Olympia audience with an unexpected massive fury from what we heard. They also appeared before The Gossip in Deutschland in both Berlin and Hamburg. An increbilbe attendance of 10,000 in Berlin left everyone exhausted! WOW ! And how can they forget their first trip to Brésil? The São Paulo concert changed their ives. They're organizing another trip to Brésil in 2011 as we speak!

Toby on the road with Raphael in France & BELGIUM !

Toby joined Raphael onstage for a 19 performances across France and Belgium last November and December.

You can hear Toby banging those drums on the new EMI album by Raphael entitled PACIFIC 231. We're happy to announce that PACIFIC 231 rocketed to #1 in France in October - the first #1 album for our dear little hard working Toby's career!

The music was produced by
Toby in New York City and features a
21-piece orchestra. Director Mark
Whiting's short film won BEST PICTURE
at the 7th annual Los Angeles
International Short Film Festival.

Apple Jack features the voice of
Orson Wells, narration by country
music legend Randy Travis,
and twin brother child stars Cole
and Dylan Sprouse starring as Jack.
